Case Study - Graphic Example

The following images are of an active, athletic 34 year old female with a very sore neck and lower back. Her neck had been diagnosed by an Orthopedic MD as having multiple compressed disks. The back had not been diagnosed, but she is an active person and thought she had pulled or strained the lower back.

Prior to using Cold One® therapy she was stiff, sore, and felt pain in her back even when walking. She had experienced the neck problem for some time and was reluctant to submit to surgery and was resigned to neck pain and a significant reduction of activity.

We asked the individual if we could take thermal images of her neck and back, then put Cold One® wraps on the sore areas for 10 minutes, and then take thermal images again.

BEFORE

The white areas also show minor inflammation in the lower back, and the significant inflammation of the mid back were probably caused by the restriction of natural neck movement. To compensate for the neck pain, she had been stressing her upper back and shoulder muscles to better support her sore neck; which was further injury.

Note the white areas show the highest degree of thermal activity which is the inflammation caused by the compressed disks. The inflammation of soft tissue is the underlying cause of pain. The goal is to remove the inflammation and relieve the pain.

AFTER

Image 4 - Neck and Back after 20 minutes

After removal of the Cold One® wraps, the ambient temperature of the soft tissue of the neck and back have returned to normal body temperature, however note the almost complete lack of white areas.

The inflammation has been nearly eliminated by applying a Cold One® wrap for 10 minutes!

Image 3 - Neck and Back Immediately After Cold One® Therapy

The extreme blue areas show the lowest degree of thermal activity. The Cold One® neck and back wraps lowered the soft tissue temperature by 10 degrees celsius and provided very broad coverage around the affected area.

So what does this all mean?

Soft tissue pain, swelling and inflammation is removed after a 10 minute application of an Cold One Ice Compression Wrap.

Even 20 minutes after the wrap has been taken off, the ambient deep tissue temperature is still at least 10 degrees lower and actively aiding in healing the injured, sore tissue.

The subject has returned to her normal physical exercise routines and is generally pain free.  She uses Cold One wraps after each exercise period to counter the effects of strenuous exercise on her previously injured muscles.

The wraps won't heal physical damage to hard structure such as the extruded discs in her neck, but the wraps do stop the inflammation and greatly diminish the return of pain.

She still has regular check ups with her doctor and follows his advice, but the use of the Cold One Ice Compression Wraps has helped her avoid surgery and still maintain her regular athletic schedule.
